TWINNING Trend

Hey beautiful people how are you all doing? In my last blog i had mentioned i will be away in April for a holiday to the Alps...well i am back now from the cool mountains to this scorching heat in Mumbai Phewww !!!! Back to reality i guess while i still have some hangover of my awesome holiday. As i m still recovering from my hectic trip i have not really had the time to shoot for my next blog and also now my photographer is away on a holiday. So i am gonna have to wait for her to come back for my next blog shoot and post.

So while i was racking my brains to put something interesting on the blog i thought why not write about this TWINNING trend which i observed during my holiday. Its been there for quite some time though but one doesn't get to see this trend much in India i feel. My favourite pastime at airports when i travel is to observe people and watch what one is wearing what shoes what bag what clothes what makeup hair colour etc. I love doing this and it also helps me learn from them. I can improvise myself by adapting a thing or two from other fashionable people. So the one thing which caught my attention was the TWINNING trend. I think its very cute and grabs eyeballs immediately. I guess thats the whole idea.

With the risk of sounding like you've clicked on Urban Dictionary, the word "Twinning"—usually prefaced with that persistent millennial hashtag—is a form of "Peacock-ing" in the fashion world. In English, this means: dressing in the same/very similar outfit as your best friend not only captures the attention of street-style photographers, but is begging for a very *likeable* Instagram post.

One might think its a very girlie thing to do where only BFFs are twinning but you will be surprised this trend is catching one with couples too. I saw soo many Chinese/Korean couples (these guys are very fashion forward i must say) at airports and also on the streets of cities i visited sporting same same matching sneakers or jackets or T-shirts. Couple Twinning is merely a playful way to show off your deep and loving bond. Or just think of it as a more fashion-forward version of putting a ring on it i would like to guess.

Turning up in the same outfit as your best friend is no longer necessarily a social faux pas – it is often deliberate. When it comes to Best Friend Twinning .....She’s the Monica to your Rachel (characters from FRIENDS you all are familiar) . She’s known by many names BFF, best friend, twin and in some cases, even soul mate. Remember best friend necklaces and friendship bands exchanged back in school? The fashion adaptation of friendship necklaces is what you might now know as Twinning, but for adults.

Gone are the days of embarrassment one would feel on arriving at a party only to realise that your friend is wearing the same dress as you. Instead, celebrity friends such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss seem to take delight in planning matching – or at the very least highly co-ordinated – outfits.

Twinning doesn’t necessarily dictate you to wear the exact same clothes. The similarity and difference, both lie in the details. Wear outfits that could either be similar in structure, style or colour, but always ensure that there is at least one point of difference in the pair. Maybe a shared motif, or colour shades from the same hue. The idea isn’t to look like 5 year olds.

We know, twinning is all about the similitude of the look but it doesn’t mean you leave your innate characteristics at the door for it! It may be a fashion trend but style is all about individuality so ensure that you inject your vivacious personality and make your charisma come through whilst simultaneously twinning.

So girls i tried this trend on with my BBF who joined me on my trip at Amsterdam. We both had picked up this sweatshirt from H & M not with the plan to go with the Twinning trend but because we both liked it equally. So while we had carried the t-shirt for our trip we jus thought of being part of the twinning trend.

We had fun sporting this matchy-matchy look. You girls should try it too if u like with your BFF or with your boyfriend or husband if you like the couple twinning trend. It’s double the fashion and double the fun.
