Barf ka gola, Chuski or Gola , call it what you may, this summer delicacy brings out the child in everyone. Summer is here and it’s leaving no stone unturned in making its presence felt. Amidst the scorching heat, what better way to get some respite than gorging on a dollop of the seasonal favourite—ice gola.

This iconic summer delicacy that we believe to be total desi, however boasts a history that encompasses many cultures and legends. The snow ball, a North American favourite, is made of shaved ice (similar to our homeboy) while another version, the snow cone contains coarse and crunchy ground ice.The popular Hawaiian shave ice comes with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream at the bottom of the cone. In Texas and northern Mexico, vendors have a different name

for it—raspa—which comes in many flavours, including lemon and chilli powder. Ais kacang is a popular form of shaved ice sold in Malaysia and Singapore. It was earlier served with red beans but now includes fruit toppings. In Japan, where the delicacy was popular even in the late 19th century, it is known as kakigori.

So these were some interesting facts on ice golas which seems to be world famous with different names though.

As a kid , I remember running out to the streets to spot the golawala, completely oblivious of any concerns for hygiene or hygiene. Those were the carefree days. As we grew older we all became wiser. So i guess i also got cautious before eating ice - golas. But I was pleasantly surprised to see the hygiene factor being taken care of at the ice gola stall on Juhu Beach. Honestly i had not visited Juhu beach for the longest time now. Its cause of this blog shoot that i landed up there.

Although i wanted a gola cart for this shoot but as you know when u want something , that time u will never find it. Otherwise we pass through such gola carts soo many times but we don't care much. So when me and my photographer went hunting for the gola wala as we call it , we didn't find one in our vicinity. So what better location than to go to our good old Juhu Beach which has multiple gola stalls.

So the reason i wanted to do a Ice Gola theme was simply cause i was gonna blog on this stunning summer dress with a GOLA CART patch work pocket by ASTITVA INDIA. I found this design so quirky and so cool.

Loved the styling of this outfit. As you will see in the pics below , the beaded Gola Cart patch work looks so unique and has an element of kitsch. I styled this outfit with a stunning piece of sunshine yellow beaded necklace again from Astitvas Bag Bahar summer collection. Its surely a head-turner. To complete the whole ethnic boho look i choose this beautiful patch work bag with gold tassels which is also Astitvas creation. The golden yellow loafers with elephant motifs by Global Desi matched perfectly with the entire outfit.

This is surely is a stunner look to sport this summer. Do check out Astitvas Bag Bahar collection and add some colours to your wardrobe this summer.

Hope you enjoy watching these pics.

I truly enjoyed my cool summer treat - Gola.

Stay cool this summers !!
