Hi all !!!! For those of you who have been following my blog for sometime now must have noted that i sometimes do blog posts on dressing as per your body type. My main motive behind starting this blog was to really inspire all you women to go ahead and take a step forward when it comes to experimenting in fashion irrespective of what your body type is.So in the past i have talked about ethnic wear dressing as per body type , how to wear stripes as per body type and also the very popular off the shoulder trend which is soo suitable for curvy bodies like ours.

In this blog post i am gonna give some tips as to how to wear a SHIFT dress as per your body type.

What is a shift dress?

A shift dress doesn’t hug the body just like the normal dress. Instead, the outfit has straight lines which fall loosely on the body’s curves. This dress is available in varied hemlines and silhouettes, the most classic version being the sleeveless and knee-length. Popularized by Audrey Hepburn in 60’s, this particular outfit has never gone out of fashion. Shift dresses have a columnar cut and no defined waist, so finding a shift dress to suit the ins and outs of your shape can be tricky. Here's a little help.

If You Have a Tummy

Look for: A silhouette that is neither boxy nor tight. A dress is most flattering when it skims the outline of the body. Dark colors hide the midsection, while a bold neckline directs focus away from the stomach,

Avoid : Fabrics like silk, cotton, and jersey tend to be clingy and highlight areas that bulge. Of course, wearing control pants or shapewear helps to improve the silhouette with minimal effort.

If You Have a Large Bust

Look for: Women with fuller busts should consider A-line shift dresses with wider skirts to balance heavier busts.Vertical or diagonal darts (horizontal seams rarely line up at the center of each breast) to provide shaping. So “Slightly A-line" cuts help balance .

Avoid: Chest pockets or ruffles that make you look more top-heavy,

If You Have Full Hips and Thighs

Look for: Traditional straight cut shift dresses may be too tight for women with ample hips and thighs. To flatter and conceal the hips and thighs, choose A-line shift dresses. Avoid: Unflattering hemlines shorter than an inch above the knee.

If You Have a Straight Figure

Look for: Women with slim builds and lean frames who lack curves should consider shift dresses with added pleats, ruching, and details to create the illusion of curves. Avoid: Plain styles that are too stiff or loose—or you’ll look as if you’re wearing a paper bag.

In this blog post i am wearing this boho style shift dress from KOOVS.COM. The amazing thing about this boho style is that its super comfortable and very flattering. I also like the beautiful bandeau neckline of this dress. To add a bit of colour to this outfit i decided to GO GREEN with my accessories right from my neckpiece to my bag to my shoes. And i feel it worked really well...this dash of GREEN !!!!
